Citizens Advisory Board
The Citizens Advisory Board shall be composed of nine members who shall have voting rights. The membership shall be composed of one member of the legal profession, one member of the human relations - resource field, one member from the field of social service, corrections, education or a related field, two sworn officers (one detective, one patrol) and four at large members, one of whom may be a youth 17 years of age or older. The City Manager and Police Chief may serve as ex-officio members. Five voting members shall constitute a quorum. Appointments to the Board shall be made by the Mayor with the approval of the Commission. Appointments to the Board due to resignations or expired terms will be filled maintaining the same composition of the Board

The purpose of this Board will be to:
(A) Study, review, consult the City Commission on police/community relations efforts.
(B) Develop and make recommendations directed toward improving community relations with the Police Department.
(C) Review and recommend programs designed to make law enforcement sensitive, effective and responsive to the needs of the Citizens of the city.
(D) Help to increase citizen participation in crime prevention efforts to include community oriented policing.
(E) Review and make recommendations on in-service training in human relations.
(F) Review other police matters as deemed necessary by the city Board of Commissioners.
