Richmond KY GeoTrail

Richmond KY Inaugural GeoTrail

October 2023 - October 2024

Richmond, KY's Inaugural GeoTrail is here! Join Richmond Parks and Recreation, the Richmond Outdoor Committee and geocachers from all over for what we anticipate to be a new annual Geocaching tradition in Richmond and Madison County!

30+ new Geocaches ARE LIVE! Happy hunting!

The theme for Richmond, KY’s Inaugural GeoTrail is all about Madison County’s history in the milling industry. This rich history inspired Millstone Park in Downtown Richmond that features 40+ millstones from Madison County and other parts of the state, and Millstone Festival, Richmond’s fall festival that takes place annually on the first Saturday in October. Between the 1700's and early 1900's, local grist mills (mills for grinding grain) were vast and prevalent in the production of flour and other grain products for local families. Madison County alone has had over 60 mills of this kind, and many of our roads are named after them. We want to continue to commemorate this history with events such as this.
