The Richmond Parks and Recreation Department is an efficient operation of the Richmond City Government that constantly seeks to provide a high level and wide variety of recreational opportunities to all people of all ages and stages of life.
The Parks and Recreation Department strives to be an active department that engages the community, promotes wellness and offers recreational activities for everyone.

Coco is a 2017 American 3D computer-animated fantasy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Based on an original idea by Lee Unkrich, it is directed by him and co-directed by Adrian Molina. The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel Rivera who is accidentally transported to the land of the dead, where he seeks the help of his deceased musician great-great-grandfather to return him to his family among the living. The Last Jedi is part of a new trilogy of films announced after Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm in October 2012. It was produced by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman, with Force Awakens director J. J. Abrams as an executive producer. John Williams, composer for the previous films, returned to compose the score. The Halloween Hoe-Down is a family friendly event designed for children 10 and under! The festival will begin at 6:00pm and continue until 8:00pm. Free Activities include Kids Games and Prizes, Contests, Inflatables, a Petting Zoo, Walk Around Characters, and More! A Special “Thank You” goes out to the Eastern Kentucky University Recreation & Parks Administration REC 460 Class for helping to organize the games, decorations, and contests this year. The City of Richmond’s annual Christmas Parade will be held Friday, December 7, 2018. THEME: “Old-Fashioned Christmas” FLOAT CATEGORIES: Business, Civic, Church REGISTRATION: All entries must be properly registered with the Richmond Parks and Recreation Office by the deadline of November 15th.
